Parking Limitations:
The South Terminal Parking Garage construction is ongoing. Parking continues to be exceedingly limited throughout the duration of the project. Travelers should allot extra time to either find parking on or off-site. Please obey all construction information signs around the airport and drive safely. Learn more about parking options and the construction project at: ANC Parking Garage Partial Closure – Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ancairport.com)
No RVs or Other Oversized Vehicles Under the South Terminal Loop Bridge:
A gentle reminder that any vehicle over 10’6” (RVs, sprinter vans, oversize vehicles, etc.) must use the commercial curb at the South Terminal. There is a sign with flashing lights to warn drivers of the height restriction before the entrance under the South Terminal Loop bridge. There is also a safe turnout to use to switch to the commercial pickup curb.
RV damage caused from hitting the underside of the bridge can be substantial, not to mention the cost of damage to ANC infrastructure. If you do not know how tall your vehicle is, please do not go under the Terminal Loop Bridge.
Lake Hood Seaplane Base:
In July, aquatic plant control efforts will take place. Overgrowth of vegetation in the water can be hazardous. Only aircraft and authorized ANC vehicles are allowed on lake surfaces. No swimming is permitted, and pet owners are encouraged to keep their animals leashed and out of the lake.
Also in July, a volunteer group will conduct plant control for Orange hawkweed along the south shore of Lake Spenard. Orange hawkweed, while pretty in appearance, is an invasive species that can quickly overwhelm native plant diversity.
Alaska Aviation Museum
On Saturday, July 15, the Alaska Aviation Museum is holding its annual Aviation Festival. For details, contact the museum directly at 907-248-5325.
Wildlife on Airport:
Moose frequently wander into areas around the airport where they are in dangerously close proximity to humans. Making potential encounters more precarious is that cow moose are now accompanied by calves. Cows with calves are more aggressive than normal. People are heavily advised to steer clear of wildlife whether on a local trail, near a roadway or in a parking area.
Upcoming Road Construction:
- A road rehabilitation project along Aircraft and Lakeshore drives (from Voight Circle to the Lake Hood west property boundary south of Runway 14/33) is expected to occur in late July/early August.
- A road rehabilitation project along Postmark Drive from West Northern Lights to Rockwell Avenue is slated for late July.
