The Emergency Trauma Technician (ETT) training program totals 40 hours and teaches the basics of emergency medical care. The ETT provides basic life support such as patient assessment, splinting, hemorrhage control, oxygen therapy, suction, CPR, and use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs). ETTs are taught to recognize symptoms of heart attack, stroke, poison, overdose, hypothermia, cold-related injuries, and a variety of other medical conditions.

The Airport Police and Fire Department provides basic emergency medical services to the traveling public and employees at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport. Officers are prepared to handle a wide variety of medical emergencies. Officers are required to maintain certification as Emergency Trauma Technicians (ETT) and in CPR. Other emergency medical training includes how to conduct affective triage in the event of a mass-casualty incident.
