Airport Communications Center

The Airport Communications Center keeps the public informed about airport activities – and informs the airport of community interests.

The department handles media inquiries, manages the airport website, creates publications, updates information on social media sites and organizes special events.


The Administration Department is responsible for developing and implementing the operating budget for the Airport. The business manager also provides personnel and procurement oversight for all divisions.

Airfield Maintenance

Airfield Maintenance provides safe aircraft movement surfaces, public roads, walkways and other exterior airport infrastructure through efficient and cost-effective maintenance management procedures. The department is also responsible for cost efficient and effective fleet management of all vehicles and heavy equipment owned by the Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport.

Airport Police & Fire

The Airport Police and Fire Department is responsible for ensuring around-the-clock police, fire and first responder emergency medical services at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport and surrounding property. The department protects over 10,000 employees and over 5,000 acres of land.


The Airport Facilities Department maintains all terminals, buildings, vertical structures and utilities. These facilities are required to comply with some of the most stringent national and international building codes for fire protection, ventilation, security, federal aviation and other regulations unique to an airport occupancy.

The department is responsible for the maintenance and operation of 40+ buildings across a 5,000-acre complex.


The Operations Division assures the airport meets federal, state and local requirements 24/7. The department’s primary objectives are to maintain a safe and secure environment for the traveling public, respond to emergencies and provide a management presence during and after business hours.

The division maintains all key operational documents including the Airport Certification Manual, Security Plan, Wildlife Management Plan, Letter of Agreement with FAA, the Emergency Response Plan and the Airport Master Record information on file with the National Data Center of the FAA.
